Welcome to WESTconsin!

Greetings and happy fall! I hope this change of season brings a little more normalcy to your schedule after a busy summer and the children in your life are happily adapting to being back in school.

In October, we celebrate Cooperative Month and International Credit Union Day. It’s a time to spread awareness about credit unions and cooperatives and how they make a difference for their members and communities. WESTconsin Credit Union is owned and operated by our members, meaning everything we do is for the benefit of the membership. It’s the cooperative spirit in our roots that encourages us to not only Inspire Better for our members, but also our communities. WESTconsin has given numerous gifts to community organizations in 2023, including Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Northwood Technical College, provided free shredding services to the community, and gathered goods and monetary donations for local food pantries and for young people in need of school supplies.  

We are thrilled to be joining the Rice Lake community! Our new office being constructed at 21 East Burton Street will be full-service where members can visit to get help with everyday transactions, as well as meet with dedicated Mortgage Loan Originators, Business Loan Officers, and advisors from our Investment team. This expansion is a significant step toward enhancing our commitment to the community and we are thrilled to contribute to the growth and prosperity of Rice Lake. We officially broke ground in September and are hopeful to start serving members from the office in summer 2024.

WESTconsin knows that financial education is a lifelong journey. Though, the earlier we can teach our children strong financial literacy, the better chances they have for a secure financial future. Banzai! is an interactive online financial education resource that we sponsor for schools, students, and community members for free. Banzai!’s articles, games, and courses teach critical financial concepts, such as budgeting, paying off debt, and saving. Plus, our website is home to other resources, such as GreenPath Financial Counseling, calculators, and articles that will help members of all ages make better informed financial decisions.

The spirit and philosophy of people helping people, guides WESTconsin leaders and encourages our employees to get involved in community and charitable activities and worthwhile causes, including sponsorships, donations, and volunteerism. In 2023, WESTconsin was very proud to support many local initiatives, including a $10,000 donation to Children Miracle Network Hospitals to benefit young patients, $25,000 to help fund Northwood Technical College’s new Medical Laboratory Technician program, and over $11,000 to a variety of community partners through fundraising campaigns throughout the year.
