Reloadable Visa Card

It's a prepaid Reloadable Visa debit card and can be used for purchases and ATM withdrawals at most places where Visa debit cards are accepted. The Reloadable Card is not affiliated with your checking or savings account. The Reloadable Card allows you to access only the amount funded on the Card. The purchase amount is automatically deducted from the Card.

The Secondary Card is directly linked to the Primary Card, but will be embossed with the Secondary’s name and have a different Card number. All Cards share the available balance and transaction limits, however the Secondary Card will only be able to access their own transaction records.

Fees are waived the first twelve months. After twelve months, a $2.50 monthly maintenance fee will be assessed.

Purchase transactions and cash advances are limited to the available balance remaining on your Card. ATM withdrawals are limited to $510.00 in withdrawals per day.

Your PIN will automatically be assigned after you activate your Card. Once you have your initial PIN, you may also select your own PIN by clicking here or calling (866) 760-3156.

After 3 invalid PIN attempts, your Card will be locked for 24 hours. It will automatically reset to an active status at the end of the 24 hours. Your Card cannot be manually reset.

No, after May 1, 2020 funds can no longer be added to the Card because the Reloadable Card program has been discontinued. Reloadable Cards can be used until at a $0 balance or until their expiration date, whichever comes first.

If you wish to process the transaction as a debit, choose ‘Debit’ and input your PIN. (See question "How do I obtain my PIN?" for how to get your PIN). To process the transaction as a credit, choose ‘Credit’ and sign the receipt.

To make a purchase greater than the balance on your Card, you will need to use another payment method - cash, check, credit card or debit card - to cover the difference. Tell the cashier the amount to deduct from your Card and how much you will pay with the other method. We do not guarantee the establishment will fulfill this request.

Each merchant location has its own return policies so you will need to check with the merchant.

If a decline occurs, the Card's available balance may be less than the purchase amount. Some merchants preauthorize for an amount slightly higher than your actual transaction (usually 20%) to ensure sufficient funds for tips or incidental expenses. This amount is "held" until the transaction settles to your Reloadable Card. Only the amount you sign for will ultimately be deducted from your Card. Use of the Card at automated fuel dispensers requires a minimum available balance of $100 (may be higher) and may require the Card to be registered to be able to confirm the zip code of the Cardholder. When making a purchase by phone, mail or online, the account information you provide must be the same account information as when you registered your Card; a difference may lead to a declined authorization.

Any authorization request that is greater than the Card's available balance will be declined. However, there can be times when a Visa merchant puts an item through without prior authorization. If this occurs, we reserve the right to apply funds in any of your accounts with us to your Card to cover the negative amount.

Immediately report a lost or stolen card by calling (866) 760-3156. Any remaining funds on the Card will be deposited to your membership savings account.

No, it is not possible to stop payment on a purchase after the Card has been presented for payment.

Purchases and cash advances, including ATM withdrawals, made with your Card in foreign countries and foreign currencies will be charged to your account in U.S. dollars. The conversion to U.S. dollars will be made in accordance with Visa operating regulations. Visa charges WESTconsin Credit Union a 1% International Service Assessment fee for each foreign country transaction, which will be added onto the cost of the foreign transaction and charged to the balance on your Card.

Yes, the Reloadable Card can be used for purchases and ATM withdrawals at most places where Visa Debit is accepted. However, Reloadable cards do not have the EMV chip; some foreign merchants may not accept the Reloadable Card for point-of-sale purchases because they do not have the EMV Chip and may not accept a Non-Personalized Card as payment if they require a name to be on the Card. At times prepaid cards may be restricted from use in certain countries due to national security watch lists. Also, some locations may be unable to process debit card transactions and are only able to accept cash payments. A 1% currency conversion fee is assessed to all foreign transactions, whether at an ATM or merchant location, and is charged separately at the end of the processing day.

It depends upon the balance on your card as of May 1^st.  If your Card balance is less than $20, the Card will be closed with the remaining funds unloaded and deposited to your membership savings.  If your Card balance is $20 or more, you can continue to use your Card until it is at a $0 balance or until the Card reaches its expiration date, whichever comes first.  Once your Card is at a $0 balance/expires it will be closed.

The Card will be valid until the last day of the month of expiration date printed on the Card. Once the Card has expired, it will be closed, and any remaining funds will be deposited to your membership savings account.

You can request to have your Card closed by visiting an office or calling into our Service Center at (800) 924-0022 during our regular business hours or submit your request in writing to WESTconsin Credit Union ATTN:  Electronic Services PO Box 160 Menomonie WI 54751.  Any remaining funds will be deposited to your membership savings within 1 business day.  If you recently used your Card for a transaction that is still pending, we will wait for the transaction to post to your Card before processing the request to close the Card.  It generally takes up to 3 business days for merchants to submit transactions for final payment.
